
Lucille’s Fried Okra
In a cast iron frying pan, bring oil to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and corn meal.
Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
Cut okra to 1/2 “ pieces.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk and lemon juice and let it rest for three minutes.
Place cut okra in the milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Drain the okra and place into the flour mixture tossing to coat evenly.
Fry in batches to a golden brown. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Do not crowd the pan.
Remove to a plate lined with paper towels, or to a drain rack.
